Where are we?
The local village and amenities
The village of Kirk Michael is located on the North West coast of the island half a mile from
Willow Nook Cottages. There is a village pub which serves food, a local shop, post office, chemist,
butchers, church, bank and a garage which stays open until late.
About six miles from Kirk Michael is the pretty harbour town of Peel. There is a supermarket, restaurants and numerous pubs serving food, take-aways, and a variety of shops including many interesting antique shops. There is also a lovely sheltered sandy beach and promenade and a very old castle to explore.
The beach
A wonderful long sandy beach stretches most of the North West Coast of the Island. The nearest access to the
beach is from Glen Wyllin and also from the centre of the village.
The Island has many lovely beaches and coastal walks and we can provide further details if required.
Glen Wyllin
Glen Wyllin is about half a mile from the cottages (accessable directly by a short walk through a nature reserve - see below) and provides access to the beach which is a vast sandy playground at low tide. Down by the river in the glen there is also
a campsite, grassy picnic area and children’s play ground.
